Beta vulgaris

Beta vulgaris is a BIENNIAL growing to 1.5 m by 0.2 m .
It is hardy to zone 5 and is not frost tender. The species is hermaphrodite and is pollinated by Wind.
Suitable for: light , medium and heavy soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic soils and can grow in very alkaline and saline soils.
It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers moist soil.
