Castanea crenata is a deciduous Tree growing to 9 m .
It is hardy to zone 4. It is in flower in July, and the seeds ripen in October. The species is monoecious and is pollinated by Insects.
Suitable for: light , medium and heavy soils, prefers well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil. Suitable pH: acid and neutral soils and can grow in very acid soils.
It can grow in semi-shade or no shade. It prefers dry or moist soil and can tolerate drought.
