Create Decent Employment

How can you support people (especially women and youth) to find and retain a decent job? There are different options: create new and better jobs and stimulate self-employment (demand side), improve the skills and work-readiness of youths and women (supply side), and matching supply and demand, by providing employment services.
Decent employment is about creating and improving jobs. If we talk about jobs, then we talk about the private sector (large, medium, small and micro enterprises) and the public sector (government jobs).
In many African countries, there is a mismatch between the demand side (people with the skills that employers are looking for) and the supply side (the skills that young people and women have acquired, e.g through education). In addition to this mismatch, facilitation of matchmaking between employers and job seekers is often also lacking.
ILO pillar Create Decent Employment breaks down into elements. These elements are meant to monitor and assess progress on Decent Work, yet also provide guidance of what is expected in the Create Decent Employment pillar.
We hereby offer you the elements per pillar for your convenience.
